Anti-Virus |
Anti-virus software
should be installed on all computers for protection against computer viruses,
harmful software
that is inadvertently downloaded or contained in e-mail
attachments. Your internet Service Provider (ISP) may
offer a free free Anti-virus
software solution.
There is an
Anti-Virus program available online called AVG Free. AVG
Free is a free anti-virus
program licensed for home use. More details and the
download are available at the following URL:

Firewall (Security) |
Firewalls provide protection
from hackers, their auto hacking programs, and viruses that
enter via your internet connection.
Using a Broadband Router/Firewall device is the best way to secure your computer
and network running all versions of Windows. In some
cases, a Broadband Router/Firewall device is provided by your
ISP.
If your computer is connected directly to the Internet and
does not have a built in firewall, we recommend ZoneAlarm.
The program is available at
www.zonelabs.com.

Anti-Spyware |
Spyware is best described as software unknowingly
installed and hidden from the user.
Spyware programs typically get installed by using features or
free programs such as free tool bars etc., offered at
some web sites. Spyware runs in the
background and is known to gather marketing and other
information and send it to it's creator company.
For more information on Spyware
and a free Anti=Spyware program from Microsoft called Windows
Defender, see the following link:

Anti-Malware |
Malware is also best described as software unknowingly
installed and hidden from the user. Similar to Spyware,
Malware programs typically get installed by using features or
free programs such as free tool bars etc., offered at
some web sites. Malware runs in the
background and typically pops up a window suggesting action on
your part. Malware programs are often not detected by
Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware programs.
